The Tarka Conservation Fund was established by the Tarka Project under a European Visitor Payback Project in 1996 to raise money from tourism for the conservation of the area.
The fund is administered by an independent charitable trust (Tarka Country Trust) with representation from
conservation interests, the local community and the Tarka Country Tourism Association among the trustees.
